How to Prepare for Your E-Commerce Shoot at Our Wapping Cove Studio
The Infinity Cove at STU 22 in Wapping is one of East London's best-equipped spaces for e-commerce photography — a 16ft x 16ft all-white cyclorama with 12ft ceilings, professional lighting included, natural light, and full blackout capability. But the difference between a shoot that delivers 200 usable images and one that limps to 80 is almost never about the studio. It is almost always about preparation.
Here is how to get the most from your e-commerce shoot at our photography studio in Wapping.
What are you creating? Let's talk →
FINALISE YOUR SHOT LIST BEFORE YOU BOOK
Before you book the studio — not before you arrive, but before you book — know exactly how many setups you need. Flat lay, on-model, lifestyle, detail shot, scale reference — every angle for every SKU should be listed. This determines whether you need a half day or a full day, and booking the wrong duration is the most common and most avoidable way to waste money on a studio shoot.
Our Infinity Cove is available from £100/hr, £450 for a half day, and £800 for a full day. For most e-commerce shoots involving a photographer plus an assistant or stylist, a half day typically covers 15–25 product setups. A full day covers 40–70 depending on product complexity and the number of angles per SKU.
PREPARE PRODUCTS THE NIGHT BEFORE
Steam all garments. Clean all hard surfaces. Remove tags, stickers, and packaging residue. Organise products by SKU in the order they appear on the shot list. This sounds obvious but it is the step that most production teams skip — and it costs them an hour on shoot day.
On shoot day, every minute in a photography studio in Wapping is charged at the studio rate. Time spent hunting for a product, steaming a garment that should have been steamed the night before, or cleaning a surface mid-shoot is time not spent shooting. The preparation is the investment that protects the booking.
BRIEF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER ON THE FINAL USE CASE
Web product pages need different framing, aspect ratios, and composition than social media ads. Shopify product pages typically need square or 4:5 format with the product centred and space for a white background. Instagram ads need movement, context, and a reason to stop scrolling. Amazon listings have specific dimension and format requirements.
The Infinity Cove handles all of these — but your photographer needs to know which is the priority before the shoot begins, not after the first card is filled.
USE OUR CHANGING ROOM FOR MODEL SHOOTS
The Infinity Cove has a private changing area with a Hollywood vanity mirror, adequate lighting for hair and makeup, and hanging space for multiple looks. Your models can rotate between looks efficiently without disrupting the lighting setup or bringing the whole team off the set. For shoots involving four or more looks, this is not an amenity — it is a logistical requirement.
REVIEW ON A TETHERED SCREEN IN REAL TIME
Set up your laptop at the client lounge and review selects as the shoot progresses. Approving frames in real time — rather than at a post-production review meeting three days later — means that if something is not working, you catch it while you still have time to fix it. A 30-second review every 10 minutes of shooting is worth far more than a three-hour edit session trying to rescue frames that could have been reshot.
Our client lounge has WiFi and is positioned to give you a clear view of the set without interfering with it.
LEAVE TIME FOR BREAKDOWN
However long you think breakdown will take, double it. Clearing a cove properly — removing all flags, repositioning furniture, coiling cables, and leaving the space in the condition you found it — takes 30–45 minutes for a standard e-commerce setup. This is production time, and it should be booked, not squeezed into the end of the session.
