Fashion Photography Studio in London — From £120 Per Hour

STU 22 is a fashion and editorial photography studio in Wapping, East London, five minutes from Tower Bridge. Two shooting rooms sit under one roof — a 16ft × 16ft seamless white infinity cove and a 26ft × 19ft light-sealed blackout studio — so a lookbook, a campaign and a beauty set can all be shot in one day without moving location. Lighting, grip, power and cleaning are included in every rate. See all three studios.

Choose Your Room

  • Infinity Cove — from £120/hr. A 16ft × 16ft seamless white cyclorama with a 12ft ceiling. Full-length frames, walking shots, jumps and group line-ups with no seam in shot. Natural light through the day, or full blackout when you want to build every source yourself.
  • Blackout Studio — from £110/hr. 26ft × 19ft with 12ft ceilings, a dark concrete floor and a total light seal — purpose-built, not curtains. Haze-friendly, which makes it the room for hard-light editorial, beauty and moody campaign work.

Half day is five hours and full day is ten. The cove is £450 and £850; the blackout room is £400 and £800. Minimum hire is one hour and all prices exclude VAT at 20%.

What Every Fashion Booking Includes

  • Aputure continuous lighting
  • C-stands, combo stands, light stands, a boom, magic arms and sandbags
  • Poly boards, gels, diffusers, softboxes and umbrellas
  • Extension leads
  • Kitchen access with tea and coffee
  • Power, cleaning and studio operations

There is no equipment fee, no cleaning fee and no facility fee. The cove also has air conditioning, a private changing room, multiple 13A sockets and ground-floor access.

Full Kit Upgrade — £200 Per Booking Day

For campaign days that need flash and shaped light: Aputure Spotlight, Aputure Nova P300, Godox RGB150W, Godox SL60W, Godox MS300, Lencarta UltraPro, Lencarta SmartFlash, Amaran 60D, Amaran 60X, and a Leica Cine projector for projection-lit sets.

Which Room For Which Job

  • Lookbook and e-commerce — the cove. Seamless white wall and floor means clean cut-outs and consistent frames across a full range. For stills of the products themselves, see product photography.
  • Editorial and campaign — the blackout studio. Zero ambient light means every source in frame is one you placed.
  • Beauty and close work — either room. The blackout studio takes haze if you want visible beams.
  • Motion alongside stills — both rooms handle music video and creator content production, and The Portal is available from £35/hr for interviews and behind-the-scenes.

Planning Your Shoot

A full-length fashion day in the cove usually runs five hours: an hour to light and test, three to shoot, and an hour for look changes and resets. Bring a steamer and rails if the range is large — the changing room is private and the team has kitchen access through the day. If you need flash rather than continuous light, add the Full Kit upgrade when you book so it is set aside for your date.

Getting Here

Wapping Overground is five minutes on foot, Shadwell DLR seven, Shoreditch ten and Canary Wharf ten. We are at 8–10 Sampson Street, London E1W 1NA, beside Tobacco Dock and St Katharine Docks. The studio is open 08:00–22:00 seven days a week, and the building holds a 24-hour premises licence, so overnight shoots can be arranged on request at special rates.

Shooting Fashion Regularly

If fashion work is a monthly fixture rather than a one-off, a retainer lowers the hourly rate:

  • Creator — £1,250/mo for 12 hours (£104/hr), with up to 25% rollover
  • Production — £2,500/mo for 28 hours (£89/hr), adding pre-production support and content planning
  • Resident — £4,500/mo for 56 hours (£80/hr), adding an account manager, weekend first refusal and on-site storage

All three are valid across every studio.
